ASCAL participates in the ENQA General Assembly: Strengthening European cooperation for quality in higher education

The Quality Assurance Agency in Higher Education (ASCAL) participated in the ENQA General Assembly, organised in cooperation with the Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation ACCUEE.

The event brought together representatives of European agencies and partner organisations to exchange experiences and good practices and explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation in higher education quality assurance.

Discussions focused on cooperation between quality assurance agencies and higher education institutions, the relationship between internal and external quality assurance, quality assurance in transnational education, the revision of the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programs, and the role of strategic communication in strengthening transparency and trust.
Particular attention was given to the presentation of the final version of the revised Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), submitted to the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) for approval, as well as the future priorities of the Bologna Process.

ASCAL extends its warmest congratulations to Péter Levente Lakatos on his election as President of ENQA, to Patrick Van den Bosch and Kristin Vinje on their continued service as Vice-Presidents, and to Ronny Heintze and Varduhi Gyulazyan on their election as new Board members.

Special thanks go to outgoing ENQA President Cristina Ghițulică for her dedication and contribution to leading ENQA and strengthening European cooperation in quality assurance.

Participation in this event reinforces ASCAL’s commitment to expanding international cooperation, exchanging good practices, and developing quality assurance processes in line with European standards and developments.
